I understand that the record companies are losing money due to rampant illegal downloading. I own literally all of Dylan's albums and over the years I have had the majority of them on multiple formats: record, CD, and cassette. Why are the record companies alienating people like me that want to play by the rules. The thing is: I don't like the sound of MP3s and I prefer my albums to be tangible items that I can store on a shelf. Ordinarily, I would have purchased the 2 CD edition of Tell Tale Signs, but I know that my enjoyment of it will always be compromised the fact that this 2 disc set only contains two-thirds of the music on this release. Since I refuse to pay the outrageous price for the full 3 CD set, I am stuck waiting until all of the music is re-released in a reasonably priced format.
The music is incredibly coherent and sounds almost like a complete studio album.That being said, why a third CD costs an extra $100 is beyond me (I just want the music, forget the book).As a result of this insane pricing scheme I have yet to purchase the album (how can I buy the two disc set, when there is a three disc set, yet how can I buy the three disc set when it is so unreasonably priced).What can I say, a great album that lost a sale to me due to stupid marketing. So this is the best album in the bootleg series since Vol 1-3.
I found songs even better mixed than on the originals "Time out of mind" or "Love and theft". 8 is better than all what I expected. I am really thrilled by this album and hope we will get much more, in future. I am an "old" Dylan fan and know all his songs from the very beginning. But this bootleg series Vol.
IT'S DYLAN, IT'S ALL GOOD, NUFF SAID. THIS ALBUM TOOK ME BACK TO THE SIXTIES, WHERE IT ALL STARTED. IT BROUGHT ME UP TO LAST YEAR.
The two books are equally enjoyable. On that basis I ordered the 3CD deluxe boxset for the music - and the third CD far exceeded my expectations. Insanely creative experience. Love this package. I liked the compendium of singles picture sleeves but it would have been better with a sentence of facts to accompany the photos. I bought the 1CD version at an airport en route to Tokyo and loved it so much that I bought the 2CD version once I got there. Worth every penny. That was already a whole new dimension (because some of the songs make their appearance in vastly different or alternate takes).
